Damned missing backup copies

In a drunken moment today I managed to delete all the pics from the old blog from my server. I wish there was an easy way to restore them, but there isn’t.

I have all the pics locally so maybe I’ll do something about it at a later point.

EDIT: I will upload the pics to the old posts in the next weeks, until it’s complete again. To much work to throw away…

Another of the typical 10-minute deals where you just have to make something work in the least amount of time possible. Like last time, exposing for the ambient, and blasting a speedlight at full from behind – worked out quite nicely in the end.

Germany is closing down its nuclear plants as a result of the crisis at Japan’s Fukushima plant – and because of this Statoil expect to sell more gas to Germany for power generation.

This is probably one of the most ordinary assignments I get – to take a picture on the fly while someone important is getting interviewed. It can be a pain in the ass, because the lighting usually sucks. So, I’ve started bringing two speedlight flashes (with radio triggers) to all of these assignments, just in case.

I expose for the ambient, and typically put the flash a stop over the ambient in situations like this.

Norway Day

Independence day in Norway, May 17th, is widely celebrated with marches, flags and brassbands playing in the streets. Many dress up in the national costume bunad (seen in the second picture) and traditionally meet in schoolyards around the country. The kids typically gets to eat as much ice cream as they like, and compete in party games such as sack race and egg race.

Here, they also try and kick a hat off a broomstick. Originally this is the grand finale of the traditional Norwegian dance hallingdansen, and it is called Hallingkast.

You can still find all the old blogposts here if you feel so inclined. In the meanwhile, here’s a picture of my friend Tommy filing some pictures at the office last week.

Also, stay tuned for updated portfolios. Coming later this week.

4800 km on a bike, average of 4 hours of sleep each night for 12 nights. I don’t envy the guy.

Rigged the camera to my car with suction cups, attached two flashes to the windows and triggered shutter by remote. Drove beside the cyclist up and down an old unused road. Turned out quite nice I think.

Here is the article about him on Dagens Næringsliv’s website.

Went to Røldal for VG to shoot people using the skiresort in Røldal. It’s the resort that has been open the longest this season. The slopes were almost empty, but I found some French snowboarders who ride for Volcom who’d been there for a week on a photoshoot. They were having a relaxed day after a hard week.
