Scandinavian Real Street Competition

June/July 2010

Olav Norheim won the title of Scandinavian Champion in the 2010 Scandinavian Real Street Competition, which was held in Copenhagen in June.

The aggressive inline skaters of Scandinavia are few, and everybody knows everybody. Each summer they meet up to compete in Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen. These are the qualifying rounds, and the final is held in Copenhagen.

The style is crucial in this sport – it matters more how you do your trick, than what trick you do. The athletes are also artists, and the sport can be called an extreme form of aesthetics.

These pictures are from the competition in Oslo and from the final in Copenhagen. Norheim didn’t perform well in Oslo, but ended up winning the finals.
